Animal road-kill “blackspots””; New Zealand Journal of Zoology, before making any claims as to the road safety status of the penguin. I cannot find Brockie’s blog to let him know that the penguin is not a mammal or a fish. I don’t see any mention of bed road-kill in these publication, but, from your photo, it appears the prediction of their distribution is a much more exact science allowing more accurate road signage... If you get a chance to get back down to Wellington and you have a bit of time on your hands head to the Karori wildlife reserve, they have kiwis and tuatar and other wildlife and there's quite a nice walk around it. Also if you're in that general area you should head to Southwards car museum (also has motorbikes)in Paraparamu (excuse the spelling), I spent a few hours there one afternoon with one of my kiwi friends, it's definitely worth a visit.
