Yes if you’re around Wellington you can visit Rivendell, the Anduin river, the gardens of Isengard (you could just about make out the path where Gandalf rode to see Suraman, the last time I was there), go up Mt Victoria (Hobbiton woods) and you can also visit the quarry where they filmed Helms Deep.

well i am glad to see someone else is edging me out in the geek stakes…you should think about checking out rivendell if you’re in the wellington area at some point! or you can go to edoras on the south island too which i wish i’d done while i had the chance.

hmmm…i think i may have just out-geeked myself there. never mind…
